A Superhero 5th Birthday Party

My baby boy turned 5 a couple weeks ago and we celebrated in style – Superhero style that is! Not just one Superhero showed up to the party, we had several superheroes including Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America (well the kids were the Superheroes of course). And trying to be Supermom, I wanted to give a Superhero mask to every party child, and a crayon roll up in their favor bag. It took longer than expected to create all the masks and crayon rolls, but it was definitely worth it. All the kids had a great time and loved their party favors, and the parents were pleased too! If you want to create your own Superhero masks, check out oxeyedaisey on Etsy for her Super Mask and Super Bat Mask patterns.

The crayon rolls were fun to make – I kind of figured it out as I went along. I have some modifications I will do next time I create them, but I loved the ombré fabric I found and how they blended together. And each crayon roll holds 16 crayons. They were a hit! See photos of both projects below, and one of all the Superheroes – the Birthday Boy is in the Superman shirt!

Melted Crayon Art

This is another fun project – we first did this as a kids project at our local craft store, and then on a much larger scale at home. I helped my 4-year old sort the crayons and then hot glue them to the canvas, then we used the Zap heating tool to melt them. So quick and easy, and now he has a fun piece of colorful, homemade artwork to hang in his playroom!
